[REVIEW] We Were Liars by: E. Lockhart

This book has been getting so much hype over the past two months that I was worried to read it. Usually when a book is really hyped up I get severely disappointed with the book.  Lockhart's PR for this book was a great concept, for people who read the book to not really give any details about it book, it makes you want to read it just to find out what they can't talk about.

This book follows a young girl, Cadence, who spends the summers with her family on their own private island. She has two cousins and a kind of relative who are very close to her in age, the four of them are called the Liars on the island. Things happen one summer that causes something terrible to happen to 3 of the Liars and Cadence loses memory of what actually happened. I loved Ariel Bissett's theory on the book which you can find here. She really puts the theory that I was thinking about for the book into great words so I just want to share her video rather than repeat her.

I gave this book a 3 star rating because I didn't like the book, I probably won't be picking this up to reread in the near future. I have an arc copy so I won't even be buying the final copy unfortunately. I am glad that I read the book though because it is a popular book right now and I can add my two cents to discussions now. I would recommend this book even though I gave it 3 stars because it is such a differently written book. It is almost hard to get through because of the writing.
